Indeed, concealer is an ultimate makeup solution to make your skin blemish free. But be aware, it would look quite patchy, if you went wrong in choosing right shade of concealer. Well, choosing the right shade could be quite a daunting task for a woman.  Whether you should go with lighter shade or darker one? This riddle is enough to make the woman confused when it comes to choosing the right shade of concealer. Do bear in mind, wrong selection of color can make your skin look dull and pale. Patch test

This is one of the most basic tricks to choose the right shade. Dab a slight tint on cotton ball. Rub it on your hand and see how it looks after blending. If you are looking even a slight mismatch between the color of your skin tone and the color of your concealer, discard that shade to the hilt. Instead, explore the shade that match up your skin ton perfectly. Keep repeating the patch test until you find the suitable as per your skin tone. If you will perform the test correctly then you will never go wrong in choosing the right shade.

Choose the color that is lighter to your skin tone

Choose the shade that is at least one or two shade lighter to your skin tone so it can blend into your skin seamlessly. The ultimate goal is to make the blemish spot blend with your skin tone nicely, so there should be no traces of ugly scar. Always prefer the creamier version over the stick form in such case.

Consider the consistency and foundation color as well

Choose the thick consistency if you are looking to cover the larger and tough areas like under eye dark circles. Choose the yellow toned concealer to hide those blue veins under your eyes. Though, if your skin tone is darker then go with orange toned concealer.  Consider your foundation color also while applying the concealer. Even a slight variation can create a patchy effect.  Make these two colors blend with each other perfectly for having awesome experience post makeup.  The color of concealer should be lighter than the shade of foundation.

Color can vary according to the form of concealer, be aware!

Concealer is available in stick, cream or liquid form. There is a sheer possibility that of color difference between the stick and liquid form. So if you have found shade, make sure it is in cream or stick form for making future purchase. However, liquid concealers are best options when you required a quick fix. Otherwise, stick form of concealer is more desirable as compared to liquid form as it provides better coverage than the liquid option. Moreover, always prefer concealer that has mineral pigment color rather a dye based color. This is highly recommended if your skin type is sensitive.
